Rukmini meaning
Rukmini (रुक्मिणी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Adorned with gold; name of Krishna's chief queen
Also used to mean: radiant
Rukmini (रुक्मिणी) is the feminine of Sanskrit rukmin, "wearing golden ornaments" or "adorned with gold", from rukma, gold. In the Mahabharata and the Puranas, Rukmiṇī is the daughter of King Bhīṣmaka. Her father promised her to Śiśupāla, but she loved Kṛṣṇa, who defeated her brother Rukmin and carried her off; she became his chief queen and the mother of Pradyumna, and later tradition identifies her with Lakṣmī. Name lists give "adorned with gold" or "radiant". Rukmani is a North Indian spelling.
