Raisa meaning
Raisa (رئیسہ) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin.
Head, chief, ruler; a person of authority or high rank
Also used to mean: leader, noble
Raisa (رئیسہ) is the feminine of Arabic raʾīs, from raʾs, "head". Lane's lexicon defines raʾīs as the head or chief of a people, a commander, governor or ruler, and more generally a person of authority or high rank. In Urdu raʾīs came to mean a wealthy gentleman or landowner, which is why some name lists add "wealthy". Name lists mostly give Raisa as "leader" or "chief". The Russian name Raisa is usually treated as a separate name. Raees is the matching boys' name.
