Ashna meaning
Ashna (آشنا) is a Muslim girl's name of Persian origin (Urdu and Hindi usage), also used by Hindu families, often spelled Aashna.
A friend, companion, acquaintance
Also used to mean: beloved
Ashna (آشنا), often spelled Aashna in India, is Persian āshnā, "a friend". Steingass' Persian dictionary defines it as a friend, companion or acquaintance, and records āshnāʾī, "friendship"; the same word could also mean swimming. In Urdu and Hindi āshnā keeps the warm sense of someone close and familiar, which is why name lists give it as "friend" or "beloved". The name is used by Muslim families and, especially as Aashna, by Hindu families too.
