Gurdit meaning
Gurdit (ਗੁਰਦਿੱਤ) is a Sikh boy's name of Punjabi origin.
Given by the Guru; a short form of Gurditta
Gurdit (ਗੁਰਦਿੱਤ) is a short form of Gurditta, "given by the Guru": gur and dittā, the Punjabi word for "given", which the Guru Granth Sahib uses of God's gifts, for example on Ang 52. The Mahan Kosh records several Sikhs named Gurditta, among them a devotee of Guru Arjan. Baba Gurditta (1613–1638), elder son of Guru Hargobind and father of Guru Har Rai, bore the full form, and Baba Gurdit Singh organised the Komagata Maru voyage to Canada in 1914.
