Amarinder meaning
Amarinder (ਅਮਰਿੰਦਰ) is a Sikh boy's name of Punjabi origin.
Amar (immortal) joined with indra (king of the gods; 'chief')
Also used to mean: immortal king, eternal lord
Amarinder (ਅਮਰਿੰਦਰ) is amar, "deathless, immortal" in the Mahan Kosh, joined to inder, the Punjabi form of Sanskrit indra. Monier-Williams gives indra as the king of the gods and, at the end of a compound, "chief" or "best of"; Indra is named in the Japji on Ang 8 of the Guru Granth Sahib. The usual reading, "immortal king" or "eternal lord", follows from these parts. Amrinder is another spelling. Captain Amarinder Singh, twice Chief Minister of Punjab, is the best-known bearer.
