Jaskaran meaning
Jaskaran (ਜਸਕਰਨ) is a Sikh boy's name of Punjabi origin.
Jas (praise, renown) joined with karan (doer, cause; or Karna)
Also used to mean: one who sings god's praises
Jaskaran (ਜਸਕਰਨ) joins two Punjabi words. Jas, from Sanskrit yaśas, means praise, honour or renown, and the Mahan Kosh points to its use in the Japji and in hymns where singing praise is said to wash away wrongdoing. Karan is harder to pin down: the Mahan Kosh entry ਕਰਣ runs from 'principal cause' and 'the senses' to Karna, son of Kunti and Surya, the Mahabharata warrior famed for his generosity. Read as 'doer', the name means one who does or sings praise, and name lists usually say 'one who sings God's praises'. That devotional reading fits Sikh usage, but no source settles which sense of karan parents intend. The compound itself is modern.
