Harjas meaning
Harjas (ਹਰਜਸ) is a Sikh boy's name of Punjabi origin.
Jas, praise and renown, of Hari, God
Also used to mean: one who sings God's praises
Harjas (ਹਰਜਸ) joins har(i), God, with jas, the Punjabi form of Sanskrit yaśas, which the Mahan Kosh gives as praise, renown and honour. The phrase ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ, the praise of God, appears again and again in the Guru Granth Sahib. On Ang 22 Guru Nanak tells the soul to carry God's praise with it as its merchandise, which the Lord will see and approve. Sikh name lists explain Harjas as one who sings God's praises. It is a modern name, used mainly for boys.
