Amarnath meaning
Amarnath (अमरनाथ) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Lord of the immortals: amara 'immortal, a god' + nātha 'lord'
Also used to mean: immortal lord, Lord Shiva
Amarnath (अमरनाथ) joins Sanskrit amara and nātha. Monier-Williams gives amara as undying or immortal, and as a noun "a god", since the gods were the deathless ones; nātha means protector or lord. The name can therefore be read as "lord of the immortals" or "immortal lord". It is best known as the name of the Amarnāth cave in the Himalaya of Kashmir, a shrine to Shiva where an ice formation is worshipped as a liṅga and which draws a large pilgrimage each summer. Name lists give Amarnath as "immortal lord", which fits both parts.
