Maheshwar meaning
Maheshwar (महेश्वर) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Great lord, sovereign; an epithet of Shiva and of Krishna
Also used to mean: Lord Shiva
Maheshwar (महेश्वर) is Sanskrit maheśvara, from mahā, "great", and īśvara, "lord". Monier-Williams gives a great lord, sovereign or chief, and an epithet of several gods, above all Shiva and Krishna; the feminine Maheshvari is a name of the goddess Durga. Name lists give "great lord" or "Lord Shiva", which matches the dictionary. Mahesh is the short form of the same name. The temple town of Maheshwar on the Narmada, once the capital of Ahilyabai Holkar, also carries it. In Odisha and Bengal the name is usually written Maheswar.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Shiva.
