Atman meaning
Atman (आत्मन) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
The soul, the self; breath; essence; the supreme spirit
Atman (आत्मन) is Sanskrit ātman, one of the central words of Indian philosophy. Monier-Williams gives breath, the soul or principle of life and sensation, the individual self, essence and character, the mind, and the highest principle of life, Brahman; the lexicons also add the sun and fire. In the Upaniṣads the teaching that the ātman, the inner self, is one with Brahman lies at the heart of Vedānta. Baby-name lists give the name as "soul" or "self", matching the dictionary. It is often spelt Aatman.
