Yash meaning
Yash (यश) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Beauty, splendour; honour, glory, fame
Yash (यश) comes from Sanskrit yaśas, a neuter noun. Its oldest sense, in the Ṛgveda and Atharvaveda, is beautiful appearance, splendour and worth, and from the Atharvaveda onward it means honour, glory, fame and renown. Monier-Williams notes that Fame is also personified, as a son of Kāma and Rati in the Harivaṃśa, or of Dharma and Kīrti in the Purāṇas. Indian name lists give Yash as fame or glory, which matches the dictionary. The name is short and used for boys across India, and it begins longer names such as Yashwant, "possessing glory". A well-known bearer was the film-maker Yash Chopra, whose romances and thrillers shaped Hindi cinema for five decades.
