Yashas meaning
Yashas (यशस्) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Honour, glory, fame, renown; beauty, splendour, worth
Also used to mean: success
Yashas (यशस्) is the full form of the Sanskrit noun yaśas, of which the name Yash is a shortening. Monier-Williams gives its oldest senses, from the Ṛg-veda, as beautiful appearance, beauty, splendour and worth, and the later and commoner ones as honour, glory, fame and renown; it also means favour or graciousness. In the Purāṇas Yaśas is personified as a son of Dharma and Kīrti, "fame". Name lists give Yashas as "fame", "glory" or "success", which fit the dictionary. The full form is used in Karnataka.
