Murugan meaning
Murugan (முருகன்) is a Tamil and Hindu boy's name.
The god Murugan (Skanda); also a youth
Also used to mean: beautiful, youthful
Murugan (முருகன்) is the name of the Tamil god of youth and war, identified with Skanda or Kartikeya. The Tamil Lexicon gives murukaṉ as a youth and as the god himself, and traces it to muruku, a word whose senses include tender age, youth, fragrance, beauty and divinity. That is why the name is often explained as "the beautiful one" or "the youthful one". Murugan is praised in the Sangam poem Tirumurukāṟṟuppaṭai, and his six chief shrines, including Palani and Tiruchendur, draw pilgrims from across the Tamil world.
