Achintya (अचिन्त्य) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Inconceivable, beyond thought; an epithet of Shiva
Achintya (अचिन्त्य) is the Sanskrit acintya, from a-, "not", and cintya, "to be thought of", from the verb cint, "to think". Monier-Williams gives it as "inconceivable" or "surpassing thought", citing the Maitrāyaṇī Saṃhitā and later texts, and lists it as an epithet of Śiva. Sanskrit scripture uses the word for the divine, which is beyond the reach of the mind, and it is central to the Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava teaching of acintya-bhedābheda, "inconceivable oneness and difference". Name lists give Achintya as "inconceivable", matching the dictionary.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Shiva.
