Tryambak meaning
Tryambak (त्र्यम्बक) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Three-eyed (originally perhaps three-mothered); Rudra, Shiva
Also used to mean: Lord Shiva
Tryambak (त्र्यम्बक) is the Sanskrit tryambaka, one of the oldest names of Rudra-Śiva. Monier-Williams gives it as "three-eyed", and notes that it originally probably meant "three-mothered", from ambā, "mother". The name is famous from the Mahāmṛtyuñjaya prayer of the Ṛg-veda, which begins with Tryambaka, and from Trimbakeshwar near Nashik, the temple at the source of the Godāvarī that Monier-Williams also records. Name lists give "three-eyed" or "Lord Shiva". As a given name it is used in Maharashtra, including in the forms Trimbak and Tryambakrao.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Shiva.
