Tushit (तुषित) is the Sanskrit tuṣita. Monier-Williams gives the plural Tuṣitas as a class of celestial beings, twelve or thirty-six in number, and records Tuṣita in the singular as a name of Viṣṇu in the third age of Manu. Buddhists know Tuṣita as the heaven where the future Buddha waits. Name lists today give Tushit as "satisfied" or "contented" and link it to Vishnu. The Vishnu link is in the dictionary, but "satisfied" belongs to related words from the root tuṣ, "to be pleased", such as tuṣṭa and toṣita, rather than to tuṣita itself.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Vishnu.
