Raghupati meaning
Raghupati (रघुपति) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Chief of the Raghus, a name of Rāma
Also used to mean: lord of the raghus, lord rama
Raghupati (रघुपति) means "lord of the Raghus", the royal line of Ayodhya named after King Raghu, Rāma's great-grandfather. Monier-Williams gives it the same sense as raghunāyaka, "chief of the Raghus", a name of Rāma, and also records it as the name of several scholars. The name is known to every Indian through the bhajan "Raghupati Raghava Raja Ram", sung at Gandhi's prayer meetings. In South India it is usually spelt Raghupathi. The Urdu poet Firaq Gorakhpuri was born Raghupati Sahay.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Ram.
