Amod meaning
Amod (आमोद) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Joy, serenity, pleasure; a pervading fragrance
Also used to mean: delight
Amod (आमोद) is the Sanskrit āmoda, from ā- and the verb mud, "to rejoice", the root of words like moda and pramoda, "delight". Monier-Williams gives it as joy, serenity and pleasure, citing the Rāmāyaṇa, and also as a pervading fragrance, the scent that spreads from flowers, a sense the poet Kālidāsa uses in his works. In Hindi the pair āmod-pramod means fun and recreation. Name lists give Amod as "joy", "delight" or "pleasure", which match the dictionary. The name is used in Maharashtra.
