Vanshi meaning
Vanshi (वंशी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin (Gujarati usage).
A flute, a pipe
Vanshi (वंशी, Gujarati વંશી) is the Sanskrit word vaṃśī, "flute", from vaṃśa, "bamboo", the reed from which Indian flutes are cut. It is Krishna's instrument, and his name Vanshidhar or Banshidhar means "flute-holder". Monier-Williams also lists rarer technical senses, but the flute is the one that names follow, and name lists give the same meaning. The same root vaṃśa also gives Vansh, "lineage", since a family line was pictured like the joints of a bamboo. Vanshi is used for girls mainly in Gujarati families.
