Aishani meaning
Aishani (ऐशानी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Belonging to Shiva; the north-east; a name of Durga
Aishani (ऐशानी) is the feminine of Sanskrit aiśāna, "belonging to Śiva". It is formed from īśāna, which Monier-Williams glosses as "owning, reigning" and "a ruler, master", and which is one of the older names of Śiva-Rudra. Apte's dictionary gives aiśānī two senses: the north-eastern direction, and a name of Durgā, Śiva's consort. Monier-Williams gives only "north-east". Indian name lists today usually give Aishani as "Goddess Durga" or "Shiva's consort", which agrees with Apte, so the popular meaning has dictionary support. The lengthened first vowel, ai- in place of ī-, is the regular Sanskrit way of making a word that means "belonging to" or "coming from". The similar name Ishani comes from the same root.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Durga.
