Ila meaning
Ila (इला) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
The earth; speech; the Vedic goddess Iḍā, daughter of Manu
Ila (इला) is the Sanskrit ilā, another form of iḍā. Monier-Williams gives ilā as flow, speech and the earth, and under iḍā adds a refreshing libation of milk offered in ritual and the goddess of sacred speech, invoked with Sarasvatī in the Vedic hymns. In the epics and Purāṇas Iḍā or Ilā is the daughter of Manu, the wife of Budha and the mother of King Purūravas, founder of the lunar dynasty. Name lists give Ila as "earth", which matches the dictionary. Well-known bearers include the singer and actress Ila Arun.
