Aisha meaning
Aisha (عائشہ) is a Muslim and international girl's name of Arabic origin.
Living, having life
Aisha (عائشہ) is the Arabic ʿĀʾisha, the feminine of ʿāʾish, "living". Lane's Arabic-English Lexicon glosses ʿāʾish as "having life" and also as a person living in a good state, from the verb ʿāsha, "to live". So the name means "alive" or "living", with a sense of a full and thriving life. Its most famous bearer is ʿĀʾisha bint Abī Bakr, daughter of the first caliph, Abū Bakr, and a wife of the Prophet Muhammad. She became one of the most important transmitters of hadith: about a sixth of the hadith in al-Bukhārī's collection are cited on her authority. In South Asia the name is also often spelled Ayesha or Aysha.
