Natalia meaning
Natalia is an international and Christian girl's name of Latin origin.
Of birth; from Latin natalis, (dies) natalis "birthday"
Also used to mean: born on Christmas Day
Natalia is the Latin and Slavic form of a name from natalis, "of birth". Lewis & Short define natalis as belonging to one's birth, and dies natalis as a birthday; in the early Church it was also used for a martyr's death, seen as a birth into heaven. The Online Etymology Dictionary notes that natalis came to mean Christmas, and that the name was probably first given to girls born on Christmas Day. St Natalia was an early martyr venerated with her husband St Adrian of Nicomedia. Natasha is its Russian pet form. It is said nuh-TAA-lee-uh.
