Evie meaning
Evie is an international and Christian girl's name of Hebrew origin (English pet form).
Pet form of Eve, Eva or Evelyn; Hebrew Chavvah, 'life-giver'
Evie is an affectionate English short form of Eve, Eva, Evelyn and sometimes Evangeline, and today it is also given as a full name. Through Eve it goes back to the Hebrew Chavvah, the first woman in Genesis, whose name Strong's concordance glosses as "life-giver" and the Brown-Driver-Briggs lexicon as "life", which is why name lists give Evie as "life". When it is short for Evangeline, it carries the Greek sense of "good news" instead. With its two light syllables, EE-vee, it is easy to say in any Indian language and pairs comfortably with longer surnames.
