Salome meaning
Salome is a Christian girl's name of Hebrew origin (via Greek).
Peace, well-being (from Hebrew shalom)
Also used to mean: peaceful
Salome is the Greek form of a Hebrew woman's name built on shalom. Strong's Concordance explains shalom as being safe and well, and so welfare, health, prosperity and peace, which is why name lists give Salome as 'peace' or 'peaceful'. In the Gospels Salome is one of the women who followed Jesus from Galilee, watched at the cross and came to the tomb with spices on Easter morning (Mark 15:40; 16:1). The dancing daughter of Herodias is not named in the Bible; her name comes from the historian Josephus. The spelling Salomi is also used in India.
