Saloni meaning
Saloni (सलोनी) is a Hindu girl's name of Hindi origin (from Sanskrit lāvaṇya).
Salted, savoury; beautiful, handsome; nut-brown (of complexion)
Also used to mean: charming, dear
Saloni (सलोनी) is the feminine of the Hindi adjective salonā. Platts's 1884 dictionary traces it through Prakrit to Sanskrit sa- plus lāvaṇya, a word that means both saltiness and loveliness, and the Hindi word carries both senses: salted or savoury on the one hand, and beautiful, handsome, piquant and expressive on the other. Platts adds that it is used of a dark or nut-brown complexion, so a salonī face is an attractive, warm-toned one. Name lists give Saloni as "beautiful", "charming" or "dear", which fits the Hindi sense well. The name is used across North and West India.
