Jemima meaning
Jemima is a Christian girl's name of Hebrew origin.
Warm, affectionate; hence dove (Strong's, 'perhaps')
Jemima is the Hebrew Yemimah. Strong's Concordance (H3224) suggests it comes from a word meaning "warm", that is "affectionate", and hence "dove", and Brown-Driver-Briggs compares an Arabic word for dove; both treat this as likely rather than certain, and older translators linked it with yom, "day". She is the first of the three daughters born to Job after his sufferings (Job 42:14), and the next verse says no women in the land were as fair as Job's daughters, who received an inheritance with their brothers. Christian families in Kerala and Tamil Nadu often spell it Jemimah.
