Natalie meaning
Natalie is an international and Christian girl's name of Latin origin (via French).
Of birth; probably first given to a child born at Christmas
Also used to mean: born on Christmas Day, birthday
Natalie is the French form of Natalia, and came into English use from French. The Online Etymology Dictionary traces it to Church Latin Natalia, from natalis, "of birth", and notes that dies natalis, "birthday", came to mean the birthday of Christ, Christmas Day; the name was probably first given to girls born at Christmas. Lewis & Short give natalis as "belonging to one's birth" and dies natalis as a birthday. Natasha is the Russian pet form of the same name. Natalie is said NAT-uh-lee, and Indian Christian families may like its link with Christmas, much as Noel is used for boys.
