Patricia meaning
Patricia is a Christian girl's name of Latin origin.
Patrician, noble; of the old Roman nobility
Also used to mean: of noble birth
Patricia is the feminine of Latin patricius. Lewis & Short explain the word as belonging to the patres, the old hereditary nobility of Rome, and translate it 'patrician, noble'; later it became a court title for high officials. Name lists give Patricia simply as 'noble'. It is the feminine partner of Patrick, the name of Ireland's patron saint, and spread through the English-speaking world in the twentieth century. In India it is used in Christian families across the country.
