Jyotsna meaning
Jyotsna (ज्योत्स्ना) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Moonlight, a moonlit night; a name of Durga
Jyotsna (ज्योत्स्ना) is the classical Sanskrit word for moonlight. Monier-Williams gives it as moonlight or a moonlit night, light in general in the plural, and one of the sixteen kalās, the digits by which the moon waxes and wanes. It also records Jyotsnā as a name of the goddess Durgā. The word is related to jyotis, "light", the source of Jyoti. Name lists give it as "moonlight", matching the dictionary. In Hindi the name is often written and said Jyotsana, and in the South Jyothsna.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Durga.
