Jharna meaning
Jharna (झरना) is a Hindu girl's name of Hindi origin. By its first sound, झ, it is a Meen rashi name (Uttara Bhadrapada nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A waterfall
Jharna (झरना) is the Hindi word for a waterfall, spring or cascade. Platts's Hindustani dictionary of 1884 lists jharnā both as a verb, to flow in a slender stream, to trickle or fall in drops, and as a noun, a spring, a cascade or a fountain, and traces it to the Sanskrit root kṣar, 'to flow'. Sanskrit also has jhara and jharā for a waterfall, and jharī for a waterfall or a river, which Monier-Williams records from the old lexicographers. The name is also used in Bengali and Nepali families, spelled ঝর্ণা in Bengali. It suits parents looking for a nature name with movement and freshness in it.
