Devyani meaning
Devyani (देवयानी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, दे, it is a Meen rashi name (Revati nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Daughter of Śukra and wife of Yayāti; also a wife of Skanda
Also used to mean: divine, daughter of Shukracharya
Devyani (देवयानी) is the heroine of a famous story in the Mahabharata. Monier-Williams records Devayānī as the daughter of Uśanas, the sage Śukrācārya, guru of the asuras; she loved the young Kacha, who refused her, and later married King Yayāti and became the mother of Yadu, ancestor of Krishna's line. Her name is the feminine of devayāna, "leading to the gods" or "the path of the gods". Name lists give "divine" or name her father. In Hindi and Marathi it is often written Devyani, and in Bengali it is pronounced Debjani.
