Jyotirmayi meaning
Jyotirmayi (ज्योतिर्मयी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Consisting of light, brilliant; starry
Also used to mean: full of light
Jyotirmayi (ज्योतिर्मयी) is the feminine of Sanskrit jyotir-maya, made from jyotis, "light", and the suffix -maya, "made of, full of". Monier-Williams defines it as consisting of light or brilliant, a description applied in the texts to Vishnu and to Shiva, and also as "abounding with stars", used of the night sky. Name lists give "full of light", which matches the dictionary. The Bengali form is Jyotirmoyee, and the boys' form is Jyotirmay. It is a longer, graceful name that is often shortened to Jyoti at home.
