Rashmi meaning
Rashmi (रश्मि) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
A ray of light, beam, splendour; also a rope, cord, rein
Rashmi (रश्मि) is the Sanskrit raśmi, which Monier-Williams gives in two main senses, both going back to the Rigveda: "a string, rope, cord, rein, bridle", and "a ray of light, beam, splendour". The same word thus served for the reins of a chariot and for the rays of the sun. The dictionary adds a measuring cord and, in the word lists, an eyelash. The word is masculine in Sanskrit, though the dictionary notes that it is occasionally feminine, and as a name it is given to girls. Indian name lists give Rashmi as "ray of light" or "sunbeam", in line with the dictionary's second sense.
