Rekha meaning
Rekha (रेखा) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, रे, it is a Tula rashi name (Swati nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A line, streak; outline, drawing, sketch
Rekha (रेखा) is the Sanskrit rekhā, which Monier-Williams connects with the root rikh, a form of likh, "to scratch, to write". Its first senses are a scratch, streak, stripe or line, and from there a continuous row or range, and an outline, drawing or sketch. The word also had technical uses: in astronomy the prime meridian, imagined as a line running from Laṅkā to Mount Meru, and in dance the straight alignment of all the limbs. It is a girl's name used in Hindu families. Its best-known bearer is the Hindi film actor Rekha, celebrated for her lead role in Umrao Jaan (1981).
