Dipanwita meaning
Dipanwita (दीपान्विता) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin (Bengali usage). By its first sound, दी, it is a Meen rashi name (Purva Bhadrapada nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Lit with lamps, endowed with lights (dīpa + anvitā)
Also used to mean: lights of Diwali
Dipanwita (দীপান্বিতা) joins two Sanskrit words: dīpa, "a light, lamp", and anvitā, the feminine of anvita, which Monier-Williams gives as joined or accompanied by, and endowed with or possessed of. Together they mean "lit with lamps" or "adorned with lights". In Bengal the word is best known from Dīpānvitā Amāvasyā, the new-moon night of Kali Puja and Diwali, when homes are lined with lamps, and name lists give "lights of Diwali" or "lit with lamps". The compound is not itself in the classical dictionary. It is a Bengali name, also spelled Dipannita.
