Nabanita meaning
Nabanita (नवनीता) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin (Bengali usage).
Fresh butter
Also used to mean: soft as butter
Nabanita (नवनीता) is the Bengali form of Sanskrit navanīta, which Monier-Williams gives as "fresh butter", a word found in the Brahmanas, the Mahabharata and the medical writer Suśruta. It is formed from nava, "new, fresh", and nīta, "drawn, brought", that is, butter newly churned. Fresh butter is closely tied to the child Krishna, the makhan-chor or butter thief, and stands for softness and purity. In Bengali the name is said "Nobonita". The writer Nabaneeta Dev Sen is a well-known bearer.
