Parnavi (पर्णवी) matches a rare Vedic word, parṇavī, which Monier-Williams gives as "wing-borne" or "carried by wings". It is built on parṇa, which means a wing or feather as well as a leaf, and the Rigveda uses it of something flying through the air like a bird. Name lists today give Parnavi as "a sweet singing bird" or "nature's beauty". The bird image is close to the original, but the singing is a modern addition, and the "nature" reading probably comes from parṇa in its sense of "leaf".
