Arqam meaning
Arqam (ارقم) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
A serpent speckled with black and white
Arqam (ارقم) is the Arabic arqam, from the root r-q-m, "to mark, to write", which also gives raqm, "writing, a mark, a number". Lane's lexicon defines arqam as a serpent marked with black and white, or with red and dusky spots, which some authorities called the most malignant of serpents. The name is honoured through al-Arqam ibn Abī al-Arqam, an early convert whose house in Mecca, the Dār al-Arqam, was where the first Muslims gathered to pray and learn in secret.
