Avantika meaning
Avantika (अवन्तिका) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A name of Ujjain, the city of ancient Avanti
Also used to mean: princess of Ujjain
Avantika (अवन्तिका) is a place name that became a personal name. Monier-Williams records avantikā as a name of Ujjayinī, the city now called Ujjain, and lists it among the seven holy cities of Hindu tradition; the same word also named the language of the Avanti people. Avanti was the old country around the city, and Ujjain was its capital, one of the sixteen great kingdoms of early India. Baby-name lists often expand the name to "princess of Ujjain" or "queen", which is a modern flourish on the place-name sense. Ujjain is still a major pilgrimage city, home to the Mahakaleshwar temple and to the Simhastha Kumbh Mela held every twelve years.
