Cora meaning
Cora is an international girl's name of Greek origin.
Girl, maiden; daughter; Kore, the title of Persephone
Cora comes from the Greek word korē, which the Liddell-Scott-Jones lexicon defines as a girl or maiden, and also a daughter. Korē, "the Daughter", was the title under which Persephone, daughter of the goddess Demeter, was worshipped in Attica; the same word was used for a doll and for the pupil of the eye, after the tiny image seen in it. A well-known literary Cora is Cora Munro, one of the heroines of James Fenimore Cooper's novel The Last of the Mohicans (1826). It is short, clear and easy to pronounce with any Indian surname.
