Gira meaning
Gira (गिरा) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Speech, voice
Gira (गिरा) is Sanskrit girā, a by-form of gir, "speech" or "voice", which Monier-Williams records from the old Sanskrit word lists. In literary Hindi girā still means speech or language. Gira is best known as a Gujarati girls' name, and name lists give it as "speech" or "words", matching the dictionary. A well-known bearer was Gira Sarabhai (1923–2021) of Ahmedabad, the designer who helped her brother Gautam establish the National Institute of Design and who founded the Calico Museum of Textiles in 1949.
