Kenneth meaning
Kenneth is a Christian and international boy's name of Scottish Gaelic origin.
Handsome, comely (Gaelic Caioneach)
Also used to mean: born of fire
Kenneth is a Scottish name. The Online Etymology Dictionary derives it from Gaelic Caioneach, "handsome, comely", the meaning most name lists give. Others connect it with the early Gaelic name Cináed, explained as "born of fire", which was borne by Kenneth MacAlpin, the ninth-century king who united the Scots and Picts; we could not confirm that derivation in a primary dictionary. The name spread through Scotland and then the English-speaking world, and Indian Christian families, especially Anglo-Indian ones, took it up in the twentieth century. Kenneth Anderson, born in the Deccan, wrote famous jungle stories of South India.
