Serenity meaning
Serenity is an international girl's name of English origin (from Latin).
Calmness, peace; Latin serenitas, from serenus, "clear, calm"
Also used to mean: peaceful
Serenity is the English word for calm and peace, now used as a girl's name. The Online Etymology Dictionary traces it through French to Latin serenitas, from serenus, "peaceful, calm, clear, unclouded". In English it first described fair, calm weather in the fifteenth century, and from the 1590s a calm state of mind; it was also once a title of honour for rulers. The name also recalls the Serenity Prayer. For Indian parents its meaning is close to Shanti, Prashanti or Sukoon. It is said suh-REN-i-tee.
