Udichi (उदीची) is the Sanskrit udīcī, the feminine of udañc, "turned upwards, upper" and "northern". Monier-Williams gives udīcī, with diś, "direction", understood, as "the northern quarter, the north", the sense found in the Atharvaveda and in Kālidāsa. Many name lists, especially Odia ones, give Udichi as "one who grows with prosperity". We could not find that sense in the dictionary, so it appears to be a modern meaning attached to the name, perhaps suggested by the idea of rising upward. Some lists give the dictionary meaning, "the north".
