Agnelo meaning
Agnelo is a Christian boy's name of Latin origin (Goan Portuguese usage).
A little lamb, lambkin
Agnelo is the Portuguese form of Latin agnellus, 'a little lamb', the diminutive of agnus. The lamb link has a Christian meaning, because the New Testament calls Christ the Lamb of God. In India the name belongs above all to Goa, where it is closely linked with Venerable Agnelo de Souza (1869–1927), a priest of the Pilar Fathers born in Anjuna, whose tomb on Pilar hill draws thousands of pilgrims each November. The shortened form Agnel is also used, as in the Agnel schools and institutions named after him.
