Dennis meaning
Dennis is a Christian boy's name of Greek origin (via Latin and French).
Of Dionysos (Bacchus); Strong's: 'reveller'
Also used to mean: follower of Dionysus
Dennis is the English form of Greek Dionysios, 'of Dionysos', the Greek god of wine; Strong's Concordance traces it to Dionusos and glosses it 'reveller'. In Acts 17:34 Dionysius the Areopagite becomes a believer after Paul's speech in Athens. The French form Denis spread through St Denis, the third-century bishop of Paris and patron saint of France. In Kerala the Greek form Dionysius was taken by several bishops of the Malankara Church, while Dennis is used as a first name by Indian Christian families.
