Dishita (दिशिता) is a modern name built on the Sanskrit root diś. Monier-Williams gives the verb diś as to point out, to show and to direct, and the noun diś as a direction or quarter of the sky, the source of the name Disha. The form diśitā itself is not in the classical dictionaries, so the name has no dictionary meaning of its own. Families use it in the sense of its root, and name lists give "direction", "guidance" or "focused"; a few also say "auspicious", which we could not trace to any source. It is a recent name, related in root to the older name Disha.
