Vedika meaning
Vedika (वेदिका) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, वे, it is a Vrishabh rashi name (Mrigashira nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A seat or bench; a sacrificial ground, altar; a balcony
Vedika (वेदिका) is Sanskrit vedikā, which Monier-Williams compares with vedi, the raised altar or sacrificial ground of Vedic ritual. MW gives three senses: a seat or bench, a sacrificial ground or altar, and a balcony or pavilion. The common thread is a raised, prepared platform, a place where an offering is made or where people sit in honour. Indian name lists give Vedika as "altar", which matches the dictionary. Some lists add "full of knowledge", reading the name as veda, "knowledge", plus -ikā; MW does not connect vedikā with veda, and we could not find that sense in the dictionaries. It is a girl's name used across India.
