Dola meaning
Dola (दोला) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, दो, it is a Meen rashi name (Revati nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A swing; a litter or palanquin
Dola (दोला) is Sanskrit dolā, "a swing", from the root dul, "to swing, oscillate". Monier-Williams gives a litter, hammock, palanquin or swing, and figuratively the swaying of a mind caught in doubt. The masculine dola also names a festival on the fourteenth day of Phālguna, in early spring, when images of the boy Kṛṣṇa are swung, and the dictionary records dolā as a name for the indigo plant. Baby-name lists agree on "swing", which matches the dictionary. Dola is used mainly as a Bengali girl's name. Its best-known bearer is the archer Dola Banerjee, who won the women's recurve title at the 2007 Archery World Cup Final in Dubai.
